Dave Parker is a colorist. In bold, intensely hued images, he explores art's capacity to affect the human spirit. Passionate about his artwork, Parker pursues it as a means of personal reflection and communication. Taught in a variety of media by his mother--noted artist and writer of children's books Eileen Doolittle--Parker attributes the intense enthusiasm he feels for his work to the fact that art has always been an integral part of his life. "Energy put into a painting is energy reflected," he remarks about his passion for art that is conveyed in oils on canvas. He applies the same level of energy to his work in sculpture, etching, and lithography.
The themes of Parker's art are inspired by current life experiences and childhood recollections. Caribbean seascapes, for example, relate to his recent memories of fly-fishing in Belize. And his southwestern landscapes, for example, relate to his personal interests and love of traveling, from serene Montana landscapes including the Ruby and Big Horn Rivers, and busy New York street scenes to intimate portraits and quiet still lifes.
Parker's numerous commissions have included art for the official posters of the 1992 and 1994 Grammy Awards, the 1992 New York City Marathon, and the Music Festival. Dave's work is exhibited in galleries throughout the US.
