Collectors "First Day of Issue"
Flyfishing-Gifts.Com and Cortland are pleased to present this unique collectible to commemorate the sport of FLY FISHING and its dedicated enthusiasts.
In 1991, the United States Postal Service issued a set of five stamps, designed by artist Chuck Ripper of Huntington, West Virginia. Each stamp depicts a well-know, famous fishing fly: Royal Wulff, Jock Scott, Apte Tarpon Fly, Lefty's Deceiver and Muddler Minnow. This framed set consists of four mint stamps and an authentic First Day Cover, on which is the remaining singleton to complete the collection.
First Day Covers have been coveted collectibles for many years not only because of their philatelic and historic significance, but also by virtue of the artistically crafted design, called a CACHET on the left side of the envelope. It is important to note that such covers were produced in limited quantities on the day of issuance and can never by reproduced thereafter with any degree of authenticity. The First Day Cover was cancelled on May 31, 1991 in Cuddebackville, New York, in the "heart of fly fishing country" in America.
All philatelic materials are handsomely mounted and professionally framed in a natural finish solid oak frame. Ideal for any sportsman's office or den.
Order today, these are now out-of-print and in very limited supply. Price: $100.00
